Sugar mama

On Saturday afternoon, April 18, Sugar Mama will play in café De Pilaren at the Verdronkenoord in Alkmaar.
The Sugar Mama formation has been playing its own kind of blues, boogie, rock ’n roll and related roots music since 1986. They play at festivals, in countless domestic and foreign pubs and were heard and seen on radio and TV. As a real live band, accustomed to long nights, there are plenty of covers, but the real passion lies in working with old, often acoustic blues and playing their own work. The band released a CD entitled ‘Letter from the trenches’. According to an Irish music magazine: "This band proves that the blues in Holland is alive and kickin’!". Bas de Jong – guitar, harmonica, mandolin and vocals, Kris Hartman – drums and vocals, Ton Tacke – bass and vocals.
